Vietnamese Shaken Beef |
- 1 tbs fish sauce
- 1 tbs light soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 tbs of oyster sauce
- 1 tsp of cognac
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 600g beef fillet, cut into 2cm pieces
- 1 tbs peanut oil
- 1 tbs of butter
- White onion & bell pepper...chopped to equal size of meat
- Watercress sprigs or lettuce
- Chopped fresh tomatoes
- Red onion wedges
- Italian dressing mix with a little of sugar
- fresh ground pepper to taste
Preparation:
Combine the fish sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, cognac
sugar, ground pepper and garlic in a medium bowl. Add the beef and stir to coat. Cover and set aside for 1 hour to marinate.
Heat a wok or pan over high heat until pan is scorching hot and add ingredients in the following order and divide it into 2 or more batches to prevent steaming. Onion, bell pepper, meat and butter with continuous shaking of the wok or stirring, for
1-2 minutes until the beef is cooked to your liking. Transfer to a serving platter. Repeat with
the remaining batches, reheating the wok between batches.
Serve with french fries, rice or french bread.
