A PAIR OF SANDALS (poem)

The first poem I wrote as a gift to you

It’s a poem that tells about a pair of sandals

When memories left a scar in my heart

Even the most common things can be written to poetry

When was the pair of sandals made for each other

There’s no love involved but never apart more than a step

Together walk up and down the windy roads

Stepping up to the warm carpet and stepping down to the mud and dust as a pair.

The same steps, same trail, no one is more worn out

Sharing the weight of people pushing down on us

Whatever happen will not match with any others

The fate of one depends on the other

If someday one is lost

Any replacement will become uneven

The look can be similar but when worn will know

that the two is not the same pair

Just like us in times we are apart

Step shortfalls leaning on one side

Although the side has been replaced

But yet we still feel so unbalanced

Senseless sandals closely walk paralleled

No promises yet never lies

Not committed but never betrayed

Both always present with every journey

Can not be without each other every step of life

Even though each only has one side, left or right

But I love you because of all the opposites

Sticking together from walking the same path

Both our lives silently walking parallel

Will stop only when there is one left

There will be nothing but the end

If you can’t find the second sandal in the pair!!!
